GDP-Compliant Freight Forwarding for Pharma & Cannabis

Moving Thai medical cannabis or pharmaceutical products to a regulated buyer abroad requires GDP-compliant handling at every stage, not just a booked flight. DeeMED manages route planning, documentation, and carrier coordination through a global freight partner network.

Route planning built around GDP, not just cost

A cheaper routing that transits a non-GDP-validated hub creates a documentation problem that outweighs the savings the moment a receiving Qualified Person reviews the shipment record. DeeMED plans routes through our global freight partner network, spanning more than 50 countries, specifically for GDP compliance: confirmed temperature-mapped transit points, validated handling protocols at every stop, and backup routing that holds up under the same standard if the primary route is disrupted.

Booking, documentation, and carrier coordination

DeeMED manages the full booking process by air and sea, with direct oversight rather than a referral to a third-party forwarder. This includes export documentation, coordination with the destination importer, and carrier selection based on demonstrated GDP-compliant handling records, not just price or transit time.

Vetting the carrier, not just the price

Most companies choose a freight forwarder the way they'd choose any vendor: on price and transit time. For regulated cargo, that's a liability. DeeMED verifies three things before a carrier ever touches your shipment: a current TH-GDP certificate, issued under Thai FDA's Good Distribution Practice notification for modern drugs (effective January 1, 2022), that names the specific vehicles and warehouse used for your route, not just a general ISO or GMP certificate a forwarder can wave at onboarding; demonstrated, current experience filing License Per Invoice submissions through Thailand's National Single Window, the electronic system Customs and Thai FDA have jointly required for health-product shipments since May 2025; and direct access to a licensed bonded warehouse or Free Zone under the Customs Act, not a quiet handoff to an uncertified subcontractor for the last-mile leg. A forwarder that can't produce these on request doesn't get your shipment.

This isn't just DeeMED's own diligence, it's the obligation EU GDP guidelines (2013/C 343/01) place on whoever exports to a regulated European buyer. Under the guideline's own framing, the exporting party is the "contract giver" and is responsible for assessing a carrier's competence through an actual audit before that carrier ever handles a shipment, and periodically afterward at a frequency set by risk, backed by a written quality agreement that spells out exactly which party is responsible for what. A receiving European Qualified Person doesn't just check that the shipment arrived in range, they can ask to see that this audit trail exists. Carrier vetting on a Thai export lane isn't a value-add DeeMED offers, it's the piece of the compliance chain the exporter of record is legally on the hook for.

Smaller shipments: the land-checkpoint fee exemption

Under the Ministerial Regulation on Customs Formality Fees, Thai Customs waives its standard declaration and data-entry fees for smaller export declarations filed at a customs checkpoint rather than through Bangkok Port or Suvarnabhumi air cargo. See our customs clearance & export documentation page for the exact thresholds and fee figures, and whether routing your next shipment through a checkpoint makes sense against this exemption.

Cold chain monitoring on every shipment

Every shipment DeeMED manages includes Frigga cold chain monitoring, DeeMED is the official Thai distributor, giving continuous temperature, humidity, and location visibility from departure to arrival. See our data logger services for the specific device options available for export shipments.

DeeMED manages GDP-compliant freight forwarding for Thai medical cannabis and pharmaceutical exports end to end: route planning, carrier vetting, booking, documentation, and cold chain monitoring, with direct oversight at every stage rather than a referral handoff. Talk to us before your next shipment if your current routing hasn't been reviewed against the GDP standard recently.
